For those who are not familiar, the PEPR program (Program to Enhance Participation in Research) was created by Dr. Jewell approximately 5 years ago. In this program, grad students mentor high school students at Wheaton High School (Silver Spring, MD) on a research project of their choosing. At the end of the year, high school students visit UMD at evening for a Poster Symposium.
This is a great opportunity to volunteer your time and inspire a younger generation of scientists. The time commitment expected will be similar to past years (visiting Wheaton High School approximately 6 times during the school year).
New this year! --> We are looking for post-docs and grad students (year 3 or above in the Fall) interested in doing special topic lectures during the class time. Topics may include: making a poster, presenting research, literature review, developing a research topic, your own research, etc.
Please complete this form if you are interested in being a mentor or lecturer for the 2019-2020 school year.
Please complete the form by next Wednesday, May 22nd!
Please note: this is not a binding contract! More information will be available in June.
Thank you in advance!
